1. Who is responsible

Day One Dubai is a service of Accounting Dubai. The controller for data processing on this website is:

Buchhaltung International – FZE (trading as Accounting Dubai and Buchhaltung Dubai)
represented by Metin Günyil, General Manager
Business Centre, Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
Email: info@buchhaltung-dubai.de
Phone and WhatsApp: +971 58 593 8234

For any questions about data protection or to exercise your rights, simply write to this address.

We apply the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) together with the Data Protection Act 2018 and, for cookies and email marketing, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). For visitors from the European Union, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies in the same way. Article references below apply to both.

2. The key points in brief

  • You can use this site and the calculator without entering any data.
  • Analytics and ad measurement only start if you agree in the cookie banner.
  • We only use your email address if you enter it in the form. We only send you our newsletter once you have confirmed your address via the confirmation link.
  • You can withdraw any consent at any time, for the future and without giving a reason.

3. Hosting and access data

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. Each time the site is accessed, Vercel processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser and operating system. This is needed so the site can be delivered and kept secure (legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Vercel is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and standard contractual clauses are also in place. The logs are deleted after a short time.

We also use the country Vercel derives from your IP address to show our prices in your local currency. This is not stored for that purpose.

Fonts, images and the video are hosted on our own server. No data is sent to Google, YouTube or other providers for this.

4. Cookie banner and your choice

We store your choice in the cookie banner in your browser’s local storage (key “nd-einwilligung”) so we do not have to ask you on every visit. This is strictly necessary storage under PECR (and § 25(2) no. 2 of the German TDDDG for visitors from Germany). You can change your choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

5. Analytics with Microsoft Clarity (only with your consent)

If you allow “Analytics” in the banner, we use Microsoft Clarity, provided by Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd., One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. Clarity records how the site is used, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movements, and creates heatmaps and session recordings from this. Entries in form fields are masked. Clarity sets cookies for this (for example “_clck” and “_clsk”, stored for up to one year). Clarity also connects to c.bing.com, a service of the same Microsoft company, which may set a Microsoft identifier (“MUID”) to recognise sessions. Data may be transferred to the USA; Microsoft is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) UK GDPR, regulation 6 PECR, and § 25(1) TDDDG for visitors from Germany). Without your consent, Clarity is not loaded. More from Microsoft: privacy.microsoft.com.

6. Founder’s guide and newsletter (double opt-in)

When you request the guide, we process and store your name and email address, and you can download the guide straight away. To make sure the address really belongs to you, we also send you a confirmation email. Only when you click the link in it do we add you to the newsletter (double opt-in). Without confirmation, we do not send you a newsletter; at most we reply to your request once in person. We delete unconfirmed requests after six months at the latest.

We keep the requests in a list in Google Sheets, provided by Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, which acts as our processor under a data processing agreement. Access is restricted to the people handling the requests. Data may be transferred to the USA; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension.

You download the guide via a personal link. When you open it, we store with your request when and how often you have downloaded the guide. This tells us whether it has reached you. If you used our cost calculator before sending the form, your calculation (the settings you chose and the resulting amounts) is sent along with the form. We store it with your request and add it to your guide as a personal page 2. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in handling our requests properly (Art. 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

To know which advertising works, we also store where you came from with your sign-up: the campaign details in the link you used to open the site (for example the name of the ad), whether you came via a Meta ad, the referring website, whether the site was opened in the Instagram or Facebook app, the type of device, the currency in which you saw our prices, and the country and city roughly derived from your IP address. We do not store the IP address itself, and nothing is stored on your device for this. These details stay with us and are not sent to Meta. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in evaluating our advertising (Art. 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

As proof of your consent we keep the time of the request, the time of confirmation and the exact wording you agreed to. In the newsletter we send you tips and news about moving to and setting up a company in the UAE, as well as information about our services.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) UK GDPR, regulation 22 PECR, and § 7(2) no. 2 of the German UWG for recipients in Germany). You can unsubscribe at any time: via the note in every email or with a short message to info@buchhaltung-dubai.de. After you unsubscribe, we remove your address from the mailing list. We keep the record of your earlier consent for up to three years so that we can prove it in the event of a dispute (legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

We use Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., 2261 Market Street #5039, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA) to send emails. Resend processes your address and the content of the email on our behalf under a data processing agreement with standard contractual clauses.

7. Optional ad measurement with Meta (Conversions API)

Only if you tick the optional box in the form do we report to Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland, when you send the form and after your confirmation, that you have requested and confirmed the guide. This happens directly from our server, independently of the cookie banner. We transmit your email address and first name in encrypted form (as a so-called hash value), the IP address and browser identifier at the time you send the form and confirm, the time and, if you came via an ad, its click identifier. Meta matches these values with its own user accounts so that we can see which ad worked and Meta can improve the delivery of our ads. We do not upload a list of email addresses for ad audiences. We and Meta are joint controllers for this transfer (Art. 26 UK GDPR, facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum). The legal basis is your separate consent (Art. 6(1)(a) UK GDPR). You get the guide without ticking this box too. You can withdraw this consent at any time by email to info@buchhaltung-dubai.de; after that we no longer transmit anything.

8. Contact via WhatsApp and email

If you message us on WhatsApp, the terms of WhatsApp Ireland Ltd. (Meta) also apply. The button only opens WhatsApp with a prepared text; nothing is sent to WhatsApp when the page loads. We only use your message and number to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) UK GDPR). If you would rather not share data via WhatsApp, send us an email instead.

9. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 UK GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), ico.org.uk; in the EU, for example the authority in the country where you live.

10. How long we keep data

We only keep your data for as long as it is needed for the relevant purpose or as required by statutory retention periods. Newsletter data until you unsubscribe; enquiries until they have been fully answered and after that only for as long as needed for any follow-up questions.
